Aussie Kitchen Table LingoAussie Kitchen Table Lingo

We know that Oz has a great, funny vocabulary all of its own. So we guess there’s plenty of Kitchen Table Lingo as well. And we want to get the flavour of it.

So here are the rules:
Kitchen Table Lingo is primarily about private language – the invention and handing on of words within families or friendship groups. It is not slang (which is in common usage and which no-one can quite pin down in its origins).

So if you have words which:

  • have been invented or been handed down amongst your family or friends
  • are not in the standard dictionaries (or at least not with that meaning)
  • are used by at least three people
  • have been in use for at least one month
  • are decent and repeatable

then we would like to receive them. Just fill in the details below.
